Riga Open 2019 has begun!

Yesterday, July 22, the fifth Riga Open tournament was opened in a solemn ceremony in Riga. The opening ceremony was led by the LDF President Roberts Misans, main organizer of the tournament Raivis Paegle, main judge of the tournament Andrejs Scerbatihs, tournament judge Janis Lelis, best Latvian draughts player Guntis Valneris and the 16-time World Champion Zoja Golubeva.

This is a special year, since the tournament is awarded with five stars, and this is also the anniversary year of the tournament. The group of athletes is extremely strong and it is very difficult to predict the winner.

The tournament will run until July 28. Nine rounds of the Swiss system will be played with a time control of 80 min + 1 for each move.
